As a self taught guitarist influenced by the 60's and
70's rock and soul music scene, Charles DuMontier chose to pursue a
life in academics over becoming the bass guitarist in a popular soul
review group in St. Louis, Mo in the late 60's.
A graduate of Marmion Military Academy in Aurora,
Illinois, Charles then received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math
and Computer Science from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Like
his father, Charles then went on to medical school at St. Louis
University. He completed a residency in radiology at the same
institution. After paying back his Air Force Professional
Scholarship commitment and leaving Scott Air Force Base as the
Chairman of the Radiology Department, Charles settled in the city of
Belleville, Illinois with his wife, Kathleen, and their three
children. Music had been put on the back burner through these
formative years but personal computer technology provided a new
avenue for musical expression and the next several years were spent
writing and composing using computer music software. Helping his two
younger children with school projects about the Oregon Trail led to
the first and second songs composed for the musical, "The Oregon
Trail". Over the next 12 years, his spare time would be consumed
with the study and development a creative, family oriented musical
drama for stage.
